Game Day Brisket Sliders

Game Day Brisket Sliders

Nothing welcomes fall quite like a slow cooked brisket, and nothing says game-day quite like sliders! Brisket sliders combine the two and dish up an eye-catching platter of food that's sure to please the crowd. It's quick to make and simple to serve, too, so you can spend your time cheering on the team. For this round, we teamed up our Tarheel BBQ Rub with grilled onions, mustard and a pickle, the ideal trifecta of condiments for anything on a mini-bun. But this recipe was so fun to make, we are already planning out the season with more flavors like Harissa, Sassy Steak Spice and Kofte Spice. The genius of this recipe is how easy it is to make a whole mess of sliders. Simply cook the brisket a day ahead. Once you get it into the slow-cooker it is very hands off. Then, when you are ready for kick-off, just slice open a package of rolls and assemble the sliders as one big unit. You can even serve them pull-apart style, right from the pan.

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake

Calling all Cookie Monsters! Can't decide between cookies or cake? We’ve got you covered. Jamie Aragonez, WS’s co-owner and Sorceress of Spice, came up with this ah-MAZ-ing innovation for my Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie Kit: a giant, buttery, melty Cookie Cake. When she sent me the photos, not only was I floored by her creativity, but I wondered why no one had thought of it in the 16 years since the New York Times published my article. This “cakookie” is just the thing for satisfying your inner monster without all the mess and muss of measuring ingredients. With this kit it’s just 1.) pour, 2.) mix, and 3.) bake. The result is a guaranteed showstopper at any potluck, birthday, or gathering. Just ask Jamie what her guests thought! Happy baking! Chow, David Leite

Chocolate-Covered Cherries with Sea Salt

Chocolate-Covered Cherries with Sea Salt

35 min

This recipe uses just four ingredients and can be a fun activity if you're hosting fondue-style or made ahead of time as an indulgent treat. If you love fancy salts, the cherries make the perfect canvas, balancing sweetness and adding crunch. My favorite is the Alderwood Smoked Salt, which adds a hint of campfire flavor and brings the essence of the Pacific Northwest full circle.

Madras Curry

Madras Curry

Ever notice how curry tastes better the second day? It's because the flavors have combined into something greater than the sum of their parts. For best results, use the freshest ingredients available.Always cook within the season's availability. Winter is the domain of root vegetables and warming spices, whereas summer is filled with lighter fare and bright, fresh flavors. We used chicken, peas and our Madras South Indian Curry for this recipe, but you can try substituting any mix of vegetables, meats, or regional curry powders into the basic recipe below.

Sunflower Cascade Mushroom Pesto

Sunflower Cascade Mushroom Pesto

Pesto is a powerhouse of a sauce! The intensity of flavor and thick texture make it a versatile favorite and there are so many spring greens you can include. Inspired by the farmers market and the spice cabinet, we created this rustic version with sunflower seeds, spring ramps and our Cascade Mushroom Mix. Ramps are small, wild-growing onions that combine beautifully with the Cascade Mushroom Mix for an ultra-umami flavor. The texture of this pesto nicely coats pasta or spreads on bread. Make a big batch and freeze some to enjoy this bright spring flavor all year long.In the event ramps aren't available, try it with scallions, leeks or garlic scapes. Blanched nettles are another great option. You can also swap out the parmesan for manchego cheese.

Peep Parade

Peep Parade

Nothing says "spring" like a pastel Peep parade. These rustic cuties are fun and super easy to make. Kids young and old will have fun messing around with the powdered sugar and sticky cut-outs. Plan ahead for parade day, as each batch of marshmallows needs to dry overnight before cutting. Our go-to marshmallow recipe comes together quickly and note you'll need to make three batches if you want to include all the colors and flavors shown here. Each batch makes one 9x11 tray.We combined Beet Powder and almond extract for our first batch and they were incredible! For batch number two, we combined Matcha and peppermint. The third batch was a pairing of Turmeric and vanilla. Add more spice to increase the color - we used 1-2 teaspoons in the marshmallow mix for these beautiful pastels. Choose cookie cutters without too many nooks and crannies because the marshmallows are sticky, and dust the sides a bit as you cut them out for easier handling and to keep them from sticking together. We can't claim the health benefits of the spices will cancel out the sugar, but they are beautiful and delicious!
