Alderwood Smoked Salt also has a place on the dessert tray as the perfect topper for salted caramel. This versatile salt can be used alone or mixed into other spice blends.
Alderwood Smoked Salt is a Pacific sea salt that has been cold smoked for 48 hours over red alderwood to achieve a robust smoked flavor. It's a versatile player in the kitchen, perfect for adding a smoky touch to everything from meats and potatoes to creamy pasta dishes and even desserts like salted caramel and cookies.
Alderwood Smoked Salt, a gem of the Pacific Northwest, traces its savory roots back to the indigenous traditions of cold smoking. This method, originally devised for preserving meats through the long, damp winters, has evolved into a culinary technique celebrated for its depth of flavor. The salt is smoked over red alderwood, a tree native to the coastal forests of the region, which imparts a distinct, robust smokiness. This practice highlights a historical blend of necessity and local natural resources, creating a product that's as rich in history as it is in taste.
Across different cultures, the use of smoked salts varies, but the essence remains the same: enhancing the flavor profile of foods. While Alderwood Smoked Salt is a testament to North American culinary ingenuity, similar techniques can be found in Scandinavian cuisines.
Alderwood Smoked Salt can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Its rich, smoky flavor brings a new dimension to our dishes, making it a staple for both cooking and finishing. Whether we're sprinkling it over a steak right off the grill or adding a pinch to level-up a batch of chocolate chip cookies, this salt never fails to impress. It's a favorite in our pantry, and we find ourselves reaching for it again and again.
Alderwood Smoked Salt isn't just for savory dishes. Try it sprinkled over a scoop of vanilla ice cream or mixed into a batch of brownies for a surprising twist. The smoky flavor pairs unexpectedly well with sweet treats, creating a contrast that will leave your guests intrigued and impressed.

We love our Alderwood Smoked Salt! It's so good in (or on) so many things, both sweet and savory. It has all of the smokiness you want that is honestly missing from most smoked salts.
My go-to addition to roasted veggies, ANY baked cheesy dish ie gratins, potatoes, Mac and cheese, really good in quiche. Also great for a dry rub for red meat. A little goes a long way, I do NOT recommend in tomato based dishes or in brines for poultry.

Love this rundown. Alderwood Smoked Salt really does take cheesy bakes and veggies to the next level. Appreciate the tip about avoiding it in tomato dishes and brines – so helpful.
I love the aroma of this salt! Sometimes, when I walk past my kitchen table, I will open the jar just to smell it. :D It's my favorite salt to add to soups, chili, and any pasta dish with cheese. The beautiful jar it is in came from the Seattle store, a gift from my husband.

This smoked alderwood salt is one of my favorite seasonings ever! Very happy with the packaging and delivery. We used it the very same night as it was delivered and it didn’t disappoint!

This smoked alderwood salt is absolutely delicious! And it adds a wonderful subtle taste and smokiness to anything you add it to. My expectations were exceeded, and I’m likely to have to order more fairly soon!

We love how smoky our alderwood smoked salt is! It's like standing downwind from a campfire, and just adds so much flavor - and that little extra something - to anything savory...or sweet.
Adding this to my steak, burger any red meat is amazing. Brings a little smokiness to the dish.

I have sent this to four or five of my friends in Alaska, and both the alder salt and Italian herbs, receive great reviews. I use it a lot myself and it has given much more flavor to everything I use it with.

Nornan Herbert S., now *that’s* some flavorful generosity! 🌲🧂
So glad you and your Alaska crew are loving the **Alderwood Smoked Salt**—it really does make everything taste a little more wild and wonderful!
We first heard of your Alderwood smoked salt when we dined at Steelhead Diner in Seattle. We learned that they used World Spice’s smoked salt and have been hooked on it ever since! I love to use it on meats when cooking. We’ve tried other brands before, but none give as potent of a Smokey flavor as World Spice’s. We love it so much we’ve even gifted friends with some!

Thanks, Christine! Discovering Alderwood Smoked Salt at Steelhead Diner is such a cool connection! Love that it’s become a must-have in your kitchen—and even a gift for friends. That smoky flavor really is something special! 🌲✨
I love this smoked salt! I picked up some when I was visiting Seattle a few years back and, when I eventually ran out, I knew that I had to order some more. 10/10
Smoky and sweet with a touch of brine. I sometimes shake it up with roasted sunflower seeds, pepitas, smoked paprika, cumin, Aleppo pepper flakes, and olive oil. Even better when the salt is given time on the stovetop or in the oven.

Excellent addition for grilled steaks or pork tenderloin.
I use the coarse salt for grilling & the fine grind for table use. And the smokey flavor really lasts.

Received this as a gift many years ago since then it's become my favorite to go to spice. It's wonderful with chicken, fish any potatoes dish. Highly recommitted this season, wish I could buy it locally.
Not happy. There was no smoke! When I order this from you I look forward to opening the smoke filled package, and smelling the wisps of smoke as the salt hits the hot food. That did not happen this time...disappointed.
Excellent! We first were turned on to the Alderwood Smoked Salt & Habanero Garlic Pepper at Steelhead Diner in 2018 and have been ordering it ever since. Love the bold flavors!
A staple in our house There's no reason to use regular salt when you can use smoked salt! If you like a hint of smoke, it adds depth to any dish, sweet or savory. I did have an issue with one order where the grains were far too big, but since then, they've gone back to a size you can use in a shaker.
Since 1995 we've sourced and blended the finest flavors we can find. Nearly all of our spices are available whole or ground, and we grind in small batches shortly before shipping.
