Flour Tortillas

Flour Tortillas

It's no secret that flour tortillas are champions of versatility! You can top them with anything, fill them with anything, and they work great for snacks or for meals. What's less well known, however, is that they're also incredibly easy to make! Really! And nothing beats a fresh, warm tortilla. When making tortillas at home, use the opportunity to be creative! By using different spices or flours, you can inject a little flair into your recipe, and make your tortillas truly unique! In this recipe, we use Saffron and Butterfly Pea Flower to give our tortillas unique and distinctive colors. You can substitute a portion of the all-purpose flour for other flours, too, for more flavor and texture variety.Recipes such as this one traditionally use lard, but we've found that vegetable oil makes a perfectly suitable substitution. It's easy to double or triple this recipe, and they'll keep in your refrigerator in an airtight container for a couple of weeks. Homemade tortillas are best when fresh, though, and we don't think you'll have any problem finding ways to use them!

Rooster Ramen with Black Garlic

Rooster Ramen with Black Garlic

We've come a long way from the dorm room hot plate and elevated a pack of instant ramen to new heights with our deliciously unique blends like Rooster Spice and Bulgogi Spice. It includes something to satisfy every flavor craving, and you can mix and match the flavors to make your own bowl just the way you like it. We pulled out all the stops, and all the garnishes, to make this bowl, but you can also use the seasonings individually to season any protein or broth.

Osaka Miso Dressing

Osaka Miso Dressing

I've been spending lots of quality time with Osaka Seasoned Salt lately. Its just so darn cheerful I keep coming back to it! It started when I put this perky seasoning on steamed broccoli with lemon juice and sesame oil, creating a simply spiced combination that became a go-to for lunch. Then on to ramen and 6 minute eggs, fabulous! So I was having Osaka Salt for breakfast too. And now the Osaka Miso Dressing. This stellar flavor combination has been gracing many a crunchy salad and stir-fry this spring and that pushed it over the top. Osaka Salt is now on my desert island spice list.In this dressing, the flavors come together beautifully. It is light and intense, with a strong presence of ginger leading the way. There's just enough toasted sesame to be noticed without overpowering and the vegetal and sesame flavors of the Osaka Salt play right along. This dressing is NOT ginger shy, so cut back a little if you'd like a milder version. Enjoy it on vegetables, noodles or to dress chicken or tuna salad.

Popcorn Toppings

Popcorn Toppings

The endless number of various toppings out there make popcorn one of the easiest and most versatile snacks I know. It's my go-to snack not only for movies and Dr. Who marathons, but also ball games, potlucks and picnics. Everyone loves popcorn, and if you can bring yourself to cut down on the butter (I know I sure can't) it can be a low calorie, high-fiber option for snacking.Nothing beats a trip to the old ball yard for summertime fun, and here in Seattle we're lucky to have T-Mobile Park, one of the nicest ball fields in the country. We're also fortunate that on most nights you can get in for as little as ten bucks, but as everyone knows the real cost comes inside the park on the expensive food and drink. So to stretch my budget I like to make a big batch of popcorn, toss it with a few different popcorn toppings, put each batch in a paper bag and head down to watch the M's. It was the perfect snack to watch the recent historical perfect game, and I even had enough money left over to celebrate with a cold adult beverage! In the recipe below I'll tell you about some of our favorite popcorn toppings, but these aren't the only options by any means. We're always discovering great new spice blends to use as popcorn toppings and would love to hear what your favorite is! Let us know in the comments below and it just may end up in my bag at the next big Mariners game, Go M's!

Svaneti Seasoned Salt Kale Chips

Svaneti Seasoned Salt Kale Chips

I adore kale. The moment I discovered this particular leafy green it immediately beat out broccoli and chard at the top of my favorite vegetable list. Luckily for me it is available practically year-round here in the Northwest, and right now there are some exceptionally beautiful bunches showing up in the Farmer's Markets and grocery stores. My favorite way to prepare kale is to bake it into chips with a little bit of salt to bring out its natural savory flavor. Whether you are new to kale chips or they are an old favorite, you'll love mixing it up with some seasoning salt. Along with our Svaneti Seasoned Salt, my favorites are Voodoo, Osaka Seasoned Salt, Tuscan Rosemary Salt and America's Seasoned Salt.
