Lavender and Vodka Ice Cream

Lavender & Vodka Ice Cream

15 min

Homemade ice-cream is worth the effort, and a splash of vodka is hardly noticeable but makes all the difference in the consistency. Alcohol does not freeze, which prevents the consistency of the spun ice cream from freezing rock hard after being frozen. Perfect any time of the year, the flavor will have you making this recipe again and again.

Rhubarb Rugelach

Rhubarb Rugelach

1 hr

This recipe is a true keeper, with a surprisingly easy-to-make dough that relies on the magic of whipped butter and cream cheese. While the soft dough chills, prepare a luscious jam with a classic pairing of strawberries and rhubarb. Cook it down to the perfect consistency, ready to be spread and rolled between the dough. For a tantalizing twist, we chose the concentrated flavor of ginger and added a secret ingredient — mace. This lighter and peppery spice complements the tangy fruit, enhances the lemon zest, and fills the jam with a sweet and aromatic spice allure. Get ready to savor each bite of these heavenly treats.

Lavender Blueberry Handpies

Lavender Blueberry Handpies

Turnovers, or hand pies, are great for a picnic dessert or breakfast pastry. These delicious pocket pies, stuffed with fruity filling, offer creative bakers a great opportunity to showcase striking flavor combinations. For these we chose blueberry and lavender. Because there is no cutting or pre-cooking involved, blueberries are our go-to fruit for making hand pies. Here, we simply tossed them in brown sugar and lavender to make a jammy floral filling. For a bit of decadence, there's cream cheese and lemon to make the rest of the flavors pop. The soft floral notes of lavender are the perfect complement to blueberries and are a wonderful flavor for spring, but it is easy to over-do. Try a little bit of the filling during prep and gauge how strong the lavender flavor is and adjust to taste.

Floral Sonnets Martini

Enjoy an ice cold sip of summer! This tantalizing martini is made with a splash of our Floral Sonnets tea, which gives it amazing color and taste. This tea blend features chamomile, honeybush, ginger, cinnamon, lavender, and damiana. Together, the flowers and herbs accentuate the botanical flavors in the gin, and the result is to die for.To pair with the gin and tea, we used Lillet rosé in place of the usual dry vermouth. For a finishing touch, we also added a bit of limoncello to add a bit of citrus-y sweetness. This martini is refreshing and tastes as lovely as it sounds.

Lavender Ricotta Toast

Lavender Ricotta Toast

Lavender is not a "put it on anything" kind of flavor. The bold, heady aroma needs to be harnessed to be enjoyed. You can't just let it run wild like cumin or garlic. But there is so much about French Lavender to appreciate! Its floral flavors are the taste of spring. Enter ricotta. This mild spreadable cheese is easy to make and a touch of lavender transforms it into a really special spread. Perfectly creamy for smearing on toast, the intensity of lavender is mellowed by the milk, and brings out the sweetness in the dairy. The resulting spread is delicious on its own, but here we garnished the toast with roasted beets, cherry tomatoes and pickled onion to make it a meal.

Lavender Dulce De Leche

Lavender Dulce De Leche

If you've never had dulce de leche you're in for a treat. Making this is as easy as boiling water, but it does require patience. The process takes three hours of monitored boiling followed by an overnight wait but the results are worth it. The texture of dulce de leche is velvety smooth and not as tacky as caramel, but with and equally rich flavor. The French Lavender shines and is brightened with the salty crunch from the Fleur de Sel. Swirl some into your lattes, dollop on desserts or ice cream, and even go savory on glazed ham. Or just eat it on bread as shown here. It's all good.
