Tea 101

Summary

Pink Chai is a symphony of warmth and floral notes, creating a mellow yet beautifully balanced brew. This all-in-one herbal blend features a base of honeybush and rooibos, layered with the playful zing of pink peppercorns and the delicate touch of roses. The mix is further enriched with cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger, while a dash of sweet beet powder adds a lovely body and a hint of pink to your cup. Ideal for those seeking a velvety, caffeine-free brew, Pink Chai stands out with its unique composition and blush color.

History

Chai, which translates to "tea," traditionally refers to a spiced tea renowned across India and beyond. The evolution of chai blends, such as our Pink Chai, mirrors a history of cultural exchange and culinary innovation. Originally, masala chai was a simple concoction of tea and spices, consumed to warm and invigorate. Over time, regional variations emerged, incorporating local spices and brewing techniques, reflecting the diversity of the areas where it was embraced.

Pink Chai, in particular, represents a modern twist on this ancient beverage. By blending traditional chai spices with unexpected elements like beet powder and pink peppercorns, it offers a contemporary take that appeals to modern palates while nodding to its cultural history.

Why We Love It

Pink Chai has a smooth, floral undertone that makes each sip a soothing experience. The inclusion of beet adds not only a visual delight with its pink hue but also a subtle sweetness that complements the spiciness of the traditional chai elements. It's our go-to for a comforting, caffeine-free treat that envelops the senses in warmth.

The More You Know

Did you know that the addition of beet powder to our Pink Chai isn't just for color? In this blend, it offers a subtle earthy sweetness that perfectly balances the spice of the chai.

    Pink Chai Nog

Happy Nog Season! Eggnog is traditional this time of year, and spicing the custard with our Pink Chai came naturally. Full of holiday favorites like cinnamon, ginger and cardamom, it's a fresh and welcome twist for this favorite drink. The rose, rooibos and pink peppercorns add a floral sweet finish and the festive pop of color on top completes the drink. One sip of this frothy delight will put anyone in a holiday spirit.Thick and creamy, our Pink Chai Nog is made with cooked custard so it has a longer shelf life than the raw version and that also makes it booze-optional. A cooked custard makes for a thicker nog and you can adjust the consistency to suit your taste with an extra splash milk or preferred alcohol. We added a splash of local bourbon from our friends at Oola Distillery. Give it a quick stir with a cassia stick and holiday garnishing will be a breeze. The warm spices of chai lend themselves to all sorts of holiday applications. Once made, think outside the nog and experiment. Use it to sweeten up your coffee or try drizzling it over bread pudding. This velvety sweet cream deserves to be poured all over festive favorites.
