Tea 101

Northwest Tea Time is a meticulously crafted blend that combines the deep malt of Assam tea with the refined sweetness of Keemun and the distinctive smokiness of Lapsang Souchong. This blend is designed to capture the essence of the Northwest's cool, rainy atmosphere, providing a comforting, robust cup that challenges even the most dedicated coffee lovers to switch their allegiance during those long, gray afternoons.

Northwest Tea Time is a blend that speaks volumes about the diversity of tea consumption. Its ingredients—Assam, Keemun, and Lapsang Souchong—each bring a distinct historical and geographic flavor. Assam tea, from the steamy river valleys of India, has been a staple since the British colonial era, prized for its robust body and malty flavors. Keemun, a quintessential Chinese black tea from Qimen in Anhui province, offers a slightly sweet and aromatic quality, often described as the Burgundy of teas for its depth and complexity. Lapsang Souchong, also from China, is famously smoked over pine fires, imbuing it with a bold, smoky character that was historically a result of the drying techniques used during long trading journeys.

This tea has the ability to transport us straight to a misty morning in the Pacific Northwest. The rich, malty notes of Assam provide a hearty base, complemented by the subtle sweetness of Keemun and the intriguing whisper of smoke from Lapsang Souchong. It's our go-to blend for a warming, invigorating cup that perfectly accompanies a rainy day read or a contemplative moment by the window.

Tea isn’t just for sipping—it can be used in cooking and baking too! Infuse broths, marinades, or even cakes with your Northwest Tea Time to add unique flavors and aromas to your dishes.

Great tea! This blend contains Lapsang Souchong, my favorite tea carried by World Spice. Keemun tea is added, which makes it sweeter, but there is still plenty of smoky taste and aroma from the Souchong

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Love hearing this. Northwest Tea Time really balances that sweet Keemun with the smoky Lapsang vibe. So glad it’s hitting all the right notes for you.

Customer photo review of Northwest Tea Time

This is my go-to black tea. A lovely, rich flavor that stands up beautifully to a second steeping. This is my wakeup cup most mornings, and the second steep boosts the start of my workday.

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Love that it’s your morning sidekick! ☀️🫖 So glad you’re getting those rich flavors with every steep—nothing better to jump-start the day!

I love this tea and go through at least a pound/month. Perfect mix of rich, nutty, and smokey. If you ever wanted something more robust than an Irish Breakfast tea, this is it!

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: You are right about it being such a good robust tea. Rich and lightly smoky, it's great any tiime of the year. We even have a few folks who use it when they use our Roast Chai, too.

My go to tea so I need a large bag, pound, routinely.

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: It is such a delicious tea, and the light smokiness is refreshing. Sometimes you want a more flavorful black tea, and this one certainly fits the bill.

Haven’t had opportunity to try yet; Christmas gift, but it smells wonderful

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: It's a really good black tea, great for any time of day, but we also love it as a good afternoon tea. The wee bit of smokiness makes it the perfect Fall/Winter tea, too.

When it is tea time. This is the one I want available. Great first thing in the morning or on a cold raw day, or a great pickup after a long hard day.

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Absolutely! Sometimes we just want a good strong black tea, with a little different flavor. It's perfect for cold mornings, or after a long day.

A very nice and robust cup of tea. I will be drinking more of this during the fall

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: It's such a wonderful cooler weather tea, too. Especially on the rainy and stormy days.

My go to tea any time I want hot tea.

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: We're glad you enjoy Northwest Teatime - it's just such a great flavored black tea, and a staff favorite, too.

When I first got this tea I immediately thought it was too strong and I didn't imagine I would drink much of it. It was a free sample though so I had to use up the bag lol... But after a while I found myself craving it, it is such a beautiful and powerful tea with a strong smokiness and deep flavor. Now I don't want to be without it on my tea shelf

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Lorraine, this is *exactly* why we love sharing samples—sometimes the best flavors sneak up on you! Northwest Tea Time has that bold, smoky depth that lingers in the best way, and it’s so fun to hear how it won you over. Now that it’s earned a permanent spot on your tea shelf, we’d say that’s a true success story! ☕✨

This tea reminds me of being deep in the woods sitting around a campfire. It has a naturally smoky flavor and is somehow evocative of the Pacific Northwest forest and waterways. Perfect for a rainy day!

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Thank you! I love how you described Northwest Tea Time—it really does feel like being deep in the woods by a campfire. That smoky touch from the Lapsang Souchong is pure PNW magic, especially on a rainy day. 🍵🌲✨

I don’t have a picture to send you, I am using the tea as a stocking stuffer for my granddaughter. She is truly the chief drinker in our family.

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Thank you! Tea and spices really do make the ultimate stocking stuffers—small, thoughtful, and packed with flavor! 🎁🍵✨

Too smoky that’s all i tasted

Northwest Tea Time

Great with breakfast.

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Thank you! Northwest Tea Time and breakfast—now that’s a brew-tiful way to start the day! 🍵✨

A very smoky and full-bodied tea, alone or with honey and cream.

Northwest Tea Time

This was a delicious change from my usual World Spice Irish Breakfast tea.  I had it on a day full of rain and wind, thunder and lightning and it was just the thing!   Good quality with no tea dust in the cup.  Bright flavor, balanced smokiness-probably due to Keemun balancing out the Lapsang Souchang- not over-powering...felt like sitting around a campfire.  I can see this tea becoming a regular visitor come winter. Highly recommend.

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Thank you for the wonderful review! 🌧️🍂 We're thrilled you enjoyed our Northwest Tea Time as a cozy change from your usual Irish Breakfast. It sounds like the perfect companion for a stormy day, with its balanced flavors and campfire vibe. We’re glad to hear it might become a winter favorite. Thanks for the recommendation! ☕✨

My go to tea. If you like good black tea with a little smokiness this is the one. Mellower and smother than Lapsang Souchong.

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: Thanks for your wonderful review! Your preference means a lot to us, and we're happy to be part of your tea routine! 🍵😊

This is my every day tea. Was hard to give up coffee but the robust bold flavor of this tea is a satisfying morning!

Northwest Tea Time

Store owner replied: It's wonderful to hear that you've found a new favorite everyday tea! Transitioning from coffee can be a challenge, but we're proud that our tea's robust and bold flavor has provided you with a satisfying morning experience. Thank you!

This tea reminds me of being in front of a campfire. The smoky flavor is unique and delicious. It has a strong flavor though, so don't overdo the amount you use.

Northwest Tea Time

Like a warm blanket on a rainy day Malty with a hit of smoke. My go to tea with a splash of milk. Helps beat back even the stormiest winter days.

Northwest Tea Time

Great! I love this tea! It's my morning ritual. I really enjoy the smokiness and the deep flavor.

Northwest Tea Time

Smoky but balanced I love Lapsang, but it comes with such a strong flavor it's not my morning go to. This balances it nicely into a rich cuppa that I'm happy to drink daily.

Northwest Tea Time

Wonderful! My go to tea. If you like black tea with a smoky overtone this is the one.
