Indonesian Cassia cinnamon is such a familiar and beloved spice it needs little introduction. A global favorite for its delicious aromatic flavor, we keep a fresh supply flowing through our shop year round. We've found this high oil content Indonesian variety to be consistently strong and pure.
Indonesian cinnamon is renowned for its high oil content which contributes to its strong and pure flavor. Known for its strong aroma and robust taste, Indonesian cinnamon is often used in baking, curries, and spice blends like garam masala and Chinese five-spice powder. It’s also the most common type of cinnamon found in North American grocery stores, prized for its affordability and versatile flavor.
Indonesian cinnamon, or Cinnamomum cassia, is a type of cassia cinnamon that has been cherished across the globe for its robust flavor and aromatic qualities. Historically, cassia cinnamon is believed to have originated from Southern China and has been traded along the spice routes to Africa, the Middle East, and Europe since ancient times. This spice was so valued that it was often considered a gift fit for monarchs and even gods. Indonesian cinnamon, with its high oil content, has been particularly prized for its strong and pure flavor, making it a standout variety among its peers.
The use of Indonesian cinnamon varies significantly across different cultures. In Indonesia itself, it's commonly used in traditional dishes to add depth and warmth. Contrastingly, in the Middle East, it's often incorporated into savory dishes and spice mixes, such as garam masala, demonstrating its versatile appeal in both sweet and savory contexts.
Indonesian cinnamon has a robust and enveloping aroma that seems to enhance everything it touches. We love it for adding a warm, spicy kick to our baked goods and hot beverages.
Indonesian cinnamon is mainly harvested from trees that grow on the mountainous slopes of Sumatra.

A huge perk of shopping here is the sensory experience. Being able to sniff the products in-store ensures you get the perfect match for your recipe. This Indonesian cinnamon is a dream; one whiff and I’m ready for autumn!

This cinnamon is so good for sweet or savory, too. And there's something about the aroma of really good cinnamon - it's calming and soothing, yet can make your stomach growl, all at the same time.
Honestly, this is the best cinnamon I have ever had and I love to buy it from you guys because I know the quality I’m getting. I haven’t been able to order for so many years, but I’m back and tired of the bland sspices they sell in the store.. I’m glad to be back with World Spice! Keep up work and keep finding new blends. I can’t wait!
Store owner replied:
It has such a wonderful fresh flavor compared to most Indonesian cinnamons we have tried. Delicious in both sweet and savory dishes, too.

Cinnamon is so good year round, but Fall is definitely when it shines. It frankly just makes most sweet (and a few savory) things just really "hit the spot".
I really like this cinnamon. As always spices from here are so much fresher than others.
Store owner replied:
Thanks, Matthew! So glad our Indonesian Cinnamon is a hit in your household—nothing beats great quality for a staple like that! 🌟✨
Delicious - the smell is intoxicating. I used it to make a cinnamon ice cream for the holidays and I got so many compliments, which I'm passing straight onto World Spice.
I just opened the factory-sealed bag that I ordered months ago and it was as fresh and strong as if I had just ordered. The new packaging and sizes are excellent. Small size refills my spice jar. We use this cinnamon every day in oatmeal and in the fall we go through quite a bit for canning. Store-bought isn’t even close.
Store owner replied:
That’s what we love to hear! Fresh, bold cinnamon that stands the test of time 🙌 So glad it’s a staple in your kitchen, especially for those cozy fall days and canning season!
I ALWAYS ADD CINNAMON TO MY COFFEE AND BANANA BREAD...FLAVORFUL AND HEALTHY

Great Quality Products I appreciate the quality of the Indonesian Cinnamon that I get from World Spice. I purchased the same product from 2 other sources and the quality was just not there in the texture or flavor.
