Piper nigrum
The peppercorn is one of the most universal, highly regarded spices in the world and Tellicherry is one of the best varieties, with a mature, fully developed flavor. Grind it fresh wherever black pepper is called for but use prudence, as this Tellicherry pepper will make the pre-ground grocery-store stuff seem like sawdust.
